Fashion ‘Frills’ and thrills!
Posted on 08 March 2017
Or are you ready for a thrilling wavy ride? Yes, we said it right, wavy, because the Spring Summer 2017 fashion shows left a clear exciting trend from the catwalk and that is ‘the ruffle’.Some of the brands silhouettes adopted big, small, proportional or unproportioned curvy lines and were definitely in it for a very thrilling wild ride.
We saw them dancing!
And oh yes we’re falling to the rhythm of those shapes and your SS2017 wardrobe will never look the same for sure.
This season, each designer’s fashion house gave ruffles its own interpretation; while Sarah Burton at Alexander Mcqueen offered them printed with Scottish roses on delicate organza with a Victorian identity. Isabel Marant chose a more futuristic daring approach by creating them with a metallic, shiny lurex kind of fabric. Proenza Schouler’s ruffle interpretation screamed eighties although they were discretely mixed with yellow, orange and red. And we surely danced to more romantic melodies with the Valentino catwalk where ruffles gave the collection a more feminine and dreamy persona.
So if you’re a fan of this trend just like us, we bring you our unique selection of ruffled tops, shirts and dresses for a serious kick into the Spring street style scene. And not just that! We have gathered 5 tips to guide you on how to pull off a frilled or ruffled piece of garment without looking too girly girl, so here you go:
1-Make the ruffle the focal point of your outfit; in other words, if you chose a ruffled top, you don’t want to be perceived as the next Spanish queen, instead, chose to wear it with a minimal pant or a boyfriend jeans.
2-For a fancier event, ruffled shirts and tops can be perfect with midi skirts and heels.
3-Don’t be afraid to add on with layers of statement necklaces, but make sure to keep the rest of your outfit simple.
4-Ruffled dresses and tops make the perfect match with platform sandals and ankle boots for an unexpected boho loo, chose yours wisely.
5-For that more boho vibe, opt for an ethnic printed item like a pair of pants, skirt, or even a bag.
